SPRR Grand Prix Sponsored by Fit2Run Updates - The Manatee River 5 Miler was the first race of the Grand Prix and took place in December 2009. All members participating had a great time and ran well. Don't worry if you were not able to run the race because we are scoring the top 7 out of 11 races in the Grand Prix. The leaders of the Grand Prix up through the first race are posted in the Grand Prix Leaders section. A complete list of participants and scores are posted on our website (www.sprr.org).

The Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K is the next race in the Grand Prix and will take place on Saturday, February 27. If you have not registered, a link to the race website is included in the Official Race Schedule section. We want to see as many of our members participate in this great area race as possible. We also need volunteers on Sunday for the marathon and half marathon.

The Bay to Bay 12K was originally included as the March race, but the race has unfortunately been cancelled.  Therefore, we are including the Florida Beach Halfathon in the Grand Prix. The race director, Chris Lauber, has agreed to give us 2 free race entries for including the race in the Grand Prix, and we will be raffling them off at our upcoming club meeting on February 11. You must be present to win! Chris has also agreed to give each of our members a $5 discount on the race entry for the Half Marathon and the 5K (not included in the Grand Prix). To receive the discount, you must pre-register by mail. Just deduct the $5 from the race entry and write on the entry form that you are an SPRR member. A link to the race website is also provided in the Official Race Schedule section. More details will be provided at the February meeting.
